Eyes on 2024 Collision in Toronto

从6月17日到20日, Web Summit 2024 Collision Conference----所谓的世界科技峰会----在多伦多国家展览中心（Canada National Exhibition, CNE) 的Enercare中心举行。这几天，多伦多天气爆热，科技峰会也和天气一样爆热。

From June17th to 20th, Web Summit 2024 Collision Conference, the so-called World Science and Technology Summit, is held at the Enercare Center of Canada National Exhibition (in short, CNE) in Toronto . In current few days, the weather in Toronto has been extreme hot, and the Science and Technology Summit is as hot as the weather. 

Collision Conference不仅被《彭博社》赞誉为 “世界上最大的科技会议之一”，被《环球新闻》形容为“科技奥运会”，而且因为自2015年启动以来，随着它迅速发展成为北美"最重要的技术市场"之一，提供给来自世界各地的科技公司的科技人才、充满活力的演讲者和行业专家们讨论、交流、交易的绝好平台，Collision又被称为"创业者的嘉年华"、"企业家嘉年华"。

Not only is Collision Conference praised by Bloomberg as "one of the largest science and technology conferences in the world", but also described by Global News as the "Science and Technology Olympics". Since its launch in 2015, as it has rapidly developed into one of the "most important technology markets" in North America, it provides an excellent platform for science and technology talents, dynamic speakers and industry experts from all over the world to discuss, exchange and trade. Collision is also known as the "Carnival for Entrepreneurs".

此峰会吸引了来自117个国家的 37,832 名与会者（其中42%是女性), 其中包括世界级工程师、数据科学家、设计师、生产者、企业家、投资者、营销人员、销售人员、跨国公司和思想敏锐领导者们等等。共有570名演讲者（其中35%是女性), 739位投资者（或公司），和1003名媒体人，真可群英荟萃。

This year the summit attracts 37,832 participants from 117 countries (42% of whom are women), including world-class engineers, data scientists, designers, producers, entrepreneurs, investors, marketers, salespeople, multinational companies and keen leaders. There are a total of 570 speakers (35%of whom are women), 739 investors (or companies), and 1,003 media people.

展览中心共有1834家公司的科技展，其中包括来自57个国家的初创企业，以及AWS、微软、IBM、戴尔和Snowflake等全球合作伙伴。

In the exhibition center there is a total of 1,834 companies showing technology exhibitions, including start-ups from 57 countries, as well as global partners such as AWS, Microsoft, IBM, Dell and Snowflake.

共计30个主题（比如AI) 的科技讲演，在CNE Beanfield中心的4个讲演大厅（Masterclasses)、Enercare中心的9个讲演台（Centre Stage & Stages & Pitch)及小型讲座平台共15个场所同时进行。峰会除日常丰富多彩的科技活动外，还包括每晚晚间科技活动。内容丰富，包括营销、金融科技、政治、媒体、社会、健康、生活方式、数据开发、业务发展等等。它确实是科技盛会，但不仅仅是科技展示和交流，也是商机。甚为盛大。

There are totally 30 topics  of technology lectures. They are happening in 4 lecture halls (called Masterclasses) of CNE Beanfield Center and 9 lecture stages (including Centre Stage & Stage as well as so called Pitch) and a small lecture platform in Enercare Center, totally15 places,  at the same time. In addition to the daily colorful scientific and technological activities, the summit also includes scientific and technological activities every night. It is rich in content, including marketing, financial technology, politics, media, society, health, lifestyle, data development, business development and so on. It is indeed a science and technology event! Not only is it a technology display and exchange, but also lots of business opportunities.  It's very grand.

来自多伦多大学（University of Toronto）、被称为人工智能教父杰弗里.辛顿（Geoffrey Hinton），6月19号的讲演，吸引了人山人海的听众。他的讲题是《政府应该迫使人工智能公司进行"大量安全实验"》，对AI的安全控制有很好的阐述。他开发新型机器学习算法，他的主要目标是了解大脑是如何学习的，对人工智能技术的发展感兴趣。但他目前非常担心人工智能的风险。

Geoffrey Hinton, from the University of Toronto, known as the godfather of artificial intelligence (AI), gave a speech on June 19, which attracted lots of audience. His topic is as "Governments should force AI firms to run ‘lots of safety experiments’". Geoffrey Hinton develops novel machine learning algorithms. His main aim is to understand how the brain learns, but he is also interested in advancing AI technology. He is currently very worried about the risks of advanced AI.

展厅的这张图说“未来在哪里诞生？”置身在科峰会现场，AI成为会使耳朵生茧的词，科峰会也引人思索，全世界都AI了，世界未来在哪里？ 

This picture in the exhibition hall says, "Where will the future be born?" At the scene of Collision conference, AI has become a word that will make your ears tired. The Science Summit has also introduced the kind of thinking: If the whole world is full of AI, where is the future for the world?
